Real Hunters, Real Conservation

What good is your gun if there's nowhere to hunt?

American Hunters and Shooters Association has taken a stand on several key conservation issues to protect our hunting heritage and the lands we love. That includes climate change, which is threatening America's wildlife and wilderness. Unfortunately, the NRA's leadership continues to support members of Congress who fail to recognize — and even deny — the very real dangers posed by climate change.

"Climate change is something hunters like myself know is real. I can tell you the ducks come later and later every year over my favorite hunting spots in eastern Maryland."

Ray Schoenke
AHSA President

Read what some of the NRA's favorite Members of Congress are saying about climate change:

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT)

NRA Rating: A+
NRA Support Since 2000: $6,500
Orrin Hatch on conservation and global warming: In fact, let's call it [global warming] science fiction.

Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA 46th district)

NRA Rating: A
NRA Support Since 2000: $5,000
Dana Rohrabacher on conservation and global warming: "I have no doubt that unless we thwart the onslaught of nonsense being foisted upon humankind in the name of man-made global warming, the next generation will be deprived of freedom, prosperity, and a healthy environment"
"We don't know what those other cycles were caused by, in the past, you know, could be dinosaur flatulence, but I mean, who knows?"

Representative John Linder (R-GA 7th district)

NRA Rating: A
NRA Support Since 2000: $10,000
John Linder on conservation and global warming: It is very easy to believe that the settled science regarding climate change is just as suspicious, and indeed may be another example of pseudo-science capturing the imagination of politicians, actors and the media elite who have a desperate need to embrace some "science" which may force us to change the way we live our lives.

Senator James Inhofe (R-OK)

NRA Rating: A+
NRA Support Since 2000: $15,850
James Inhofe on conservation and global warming: Global warming is the greatest hoax ever performed on the American people ... It kind of reminds ... I could use the Third Reich, the big lie... 'The big lie,' is a propaganda technique Adolf Hitler attributed to Jews in his book Mein Kampf. It involves telling lies 'so colossal' that no one would believe 'others' could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.

Representative Joe Barton, (R-TX 6th district)

NRA Rating: A
NRA Support Since 2000: $10,000
Joe Barton on conservation and global warming: [F]or us to try to step in and say we have got to do all these global things to prevent the Earth from getting any warmer in my opinion is absolute nonsense. It's not going to happen.

Representative Roy Blunt, Republican (R-MO 7th district)

NRA Rating: A
NRA Support Since 2000: $23,400
Roy Blunt on conservation and global warming:I think the information [about global warming] is not adequate yet for us to do anything meaningful.
